Fraxel Laser Treatment
The Fraxel re:pair uses a high-intensity carbon dioxide (CO2) laser for the treatment of many skin conditions. Through fractional technology, thousands of microscopic laser columns penetrate deep into the skin to remove old and damaged skin cells and stimulate your own body’s healing process replacing old cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin. Unlike traditional CO2 lasers, our Fraxel laser targets only a fraction of skin at a time, leaving surrounding tissue intact and allowing your body to heal much faster than if the entire area were treated at once. With this ”fractional” technology, most people can see maximum results in just one treatment session with a shorter downtime. Our Fraxel laser smooths skin tone and texture, tightens wrinkled, saggy skin, softens deep frown lines and wrinkles, and improves age spots, sunspots, and sun-induced redness and damage.
All skin areas can be treated. The most popular areas are the face, neck, chest and legs. Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment. You may resume moderate activity after several days to weeks. You may experience erythema (redness) which may last several days. Dr. Boyd can answer questions about temporary changes to your skin color and how they may be camouflaged. Following treatment, your skin will have a pink or red color that will resolve over time. You will need to avoid direct sun exposure, or use a sun block of at least SPF 30 when outdoors. There can be mild discomfort during the procedure, however this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. There is no need for anesthesia and Dr. Boyd will discuss your options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment.
